"I would describe my experience with FLINT using two words: commitment and communication. From the design process, through construction, to the eventual completion, every member of the FLINT team was committed to producing a high quality building within budget and on schedule. The team remained committed to being responsive to the school community throughout which brings me to communication. At no time, as the principal of Overfelt High School, did I feel uninformed about what was happening at the construction site on our campus. As a result, I was able to have confidence that the project was moving forward smoothly which allowed me to focus on running the school. The combination of commitment and communication gave me trust in FLINT as they completed the largest construction project on our campus since the school’s inception, now the most beautiful building in our community."

W.C. Overfelt High School New Music, Art and Administration Building
This exciting project repurposed an existing 3,100 square-foot one-story building by modernizing, seismically retrofitting, and seamlessly connecting the old wood-framed structure to a new steel-framed building creating an approximately 24,000 square-foot new music, art and administration facility that revitalizes the main entrance to the W.C. Overfelt High School campus. The building houses a 200-seat theater; classrooms for music, art, photography and drama programs, including an 80-piece band room and a photo lab with a dark room; and an administration wing with offices, conference room, counseling and advising spaces, and a waiting area. In addition, the new facility provides a functional circulation space from the campus’ front entry to the quad and a social area with a café and seating. The campus transformation also included the demolition of two existing buildings to make way for a beautiful quad with new landscaping and flatwork.
