Altamont Commuter Express Maintenance Facility  |  Stockton, CA

The train maintenance building contained maintenance operations, stores, employee common areas, and administrative offices. The site included a 26,500-square-foot service and inspection canopy, 2,600-square-foot oil/water separator building, 1,660-square-foot train washer, 20,000 gallon diesel storage tank, bulk sand silo, 30-ton bridge crane with a 10-ton auxiliary hook, two-track drop table, and an underfloor wheel profiler. The site geometry allowed for storage of the existing four train sets with expansion capacity of up to 12 train sets. Extensive cast-in place walls and soffits are in place for below-grade pits and braced-frame structural steel and metal insulated wall panels were used. This project included intermediate milestone construction schedules, early mobilization, close scheduling of trades, and extensive coordination with owner vendors. Complex interrelated building systems included security monitoring and alarms, fire alarms, building and energy management systems, telecommunications, data distribution, and other related subsystems.
